14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism And Weight Loss

Have you been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid or suspect you have one?

Looking for a sample meal plan tailored to your condition… one that you can follow right now?

The 14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss is a Dietitian-made plan to help make life easier (and more delicious) when learning what you should and should not eat with an underactive thyroid.

It’s designed to be:

  • Simple to follow for busy folks with many mouths to feed
  • Realistic, with recipes that beginners can master
  • Gluten-free (which often appears beneficial for those with Hashimoto’s)
  • Loaded with nutrient-dense foods (especially spinach and legumes for folate: see the MTHFR mutation link)
  • Naturally rich in selenium, zinc and iodine for thyroid health, and vitamin B12 for more energy
  • Budget-friendly (except for two worthwhile investments: chia seeds and quinoa).

You can follow the entire plan for the whole 14 days, or simply choose your favourite recipes and include them into your current diet. Many are recipes from qualified Dietitians that I strongly encourage you to follow!

Note that if you are trying to lose a lot of weight, I recommend you read this guide as well as this one. Also this is not suitable for those following the Autoimmune Protocol.

You can still follow this plan if your thyroid is healthy, but then I also recommend browsing through these 33 low-carb lunch and dinner recipes for more ideas.

The 14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss

Must-Read Starting Notes:

  1. Consult with your personal doctor or Dietitian first: While I am a qualified Dietitian, I’m not familiar with your personal medical history, your current medications or additional factors that need to be considered when altering your diet or fitness regime.
  2. Thyroid hormone should be consumed fasting: At least 1-2 hours before your first food (being conservative). This could mean you skip breakfast altogether, which is fine if it suits you. It just depends on your eating habits and what works best for your lifestyle.
  3. Goitrogens, soy and legumes: Goitrogens and soy seem to be safe in moderate amounts (1, 2), but you can always leave them out. The same goes for legumes, often left out of Paleo diets (although I don’t recommend they be left out). If legumes give you digestive stress, it could be the FODMAPs.
  4. Choose water as your drink: The meal plan does not include drinks, but keep a bottle of water with you at all times and drink up. Tea is also fine, but anecdotal reports suggest more than 300 mg per day of caffeine (2-3 regular coffees) can aggravate the thyroid.
  5. Flexibility is key: Of course this plan cannot meet all your individual needs, so if there is an ingredient you don’t eat then replace it or leave it out. Also it pays off to batch prepare some meals ahead of time so you can simply reheat and go.
  6. Limit or eliminate junk foods and highly processed products: This plan focuses on whole, unrefined foods as they are fundamental to a healthy diet. Realistically it’s very difficult to eliminate all highly processed (often pre-packaged) foods, but just be mindful of cutting down. Likewise, snacks listed are optional depending on your regular eating habits, and there are bonus snack recipe ideas if you scroll to the bottom.
  7. The recipes sourced often make 2-4 servings: Consider this when writing your shopping list. You will have leftovers. Feed the family or save the leftovers to have in place of a meal on another day. Recipes toward the end of the week factor in leftovers.

Day #1 Monday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss - Day 1. Repin and then click through to see more

Breakfast: 1 large Banana.

Remember only have breakfast at least 1-2 hours after taking thyroid hormone.

Lunch:  Greek Yogurt Tuna Salad. Greek yogurt is high protein and low sugar, while tuna is a rich source of iodine and healthy omega-3 fats.

Dinner: Healthy Chipotle Chicken Sweet Potato Skins. Sweet potato is just one of my all time favourite foods.

Snack:  2-3 Brazil nuts. High in protein, fibre and healthy fats, Brazil nuts are a fantastic source of selenium (for thyroid health). What’s more, the addition of nuts to the diet does not increase body weight (3).

Day #2 Tuesday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss - Day 2. Repin and then click through to see more

Breakfast: Overnight Chocolate Chia Pudding. Chia seeds are a wonderful source of protein, fibre and magnesium. As the name implies, this should be made ahead of time in large batches.

Lunch: Gluten-free sandwich with tinned tuna (or your favourite sandwich topping).

Dinner: Egg Shakshuka + rice to serve. This Tunisian dish is a wonderful source of vegetables and eggs, a source of iodine. Plus rice is naturally gluten-free.

Snack: 1 cup of carrot and cucumber sticks + cottage cheese or hummus (DIY Spicy Peanut Butter Hummus).

Day #3 Wednesday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss, Day #3. Click through to see more

Breakfast: Gluten-free toast with eggs over-easy.

Lunch: Middle-Eastern Mason Jar Salad. So smart and so simple. Mason jar optional of course, but you need a jar of some type.

Dinner:  Shrimp, Zucchini & Pesto Angel Hair Pasta. You should choose gluten-free pasta for this recipe (doesn’t need to be angel hair). Shrimp is a good source of iodine.

Snack: 1 banana.

Day #4 Thursday

Hypothyroid meal plan day 4

Breakfast: Green Monster Smoothie. Again, this requires a blender and is another way to make use of your chia seeds, but brush your teeth before work!

Lunch: Pumpkin Soup Like You’ve Never Tasted Before. I’m a big fan of soups, especially in winter. They tend to be lower-calorie than regular meals, rich in vegetables, and can keep you full for longer.

Dinner: Leftovers.

Snack: 2-3 Brazil nuts.

Day #5 Friday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss - Day 5. Repin and then click through to see more

Breakfast: Choose your favourite.

Lunch: Choose your favourite or leftovers.

Dinner: One Pot Cheesy Taco Skillet. For some reason I like the idea of Mexican on Friday nights, and this creates a fun, communal feel that your family will enjoy.

Snack: 1 cup of carrot and cucumber sticks + cottage cheese or hummus.

Day #6 Saturday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss. Day #6. Click through to see more

Breakfast: Choose your favourite

Lunch: Quinoa Salad with Nuts. Quinoa is a versatile grain that is naturally gluten-free and high protein. This recipe has many tasty alternatives depending on what vegetables and nuts you have leftover.

Dinner: Choose your favourite / leftovers / eating out

Snack: Paleo Sweet Potato Fritters

Day #7 Sunday

14-Day Meal Plan For Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss - Day 7. Repin and then click through to see more

Breakfast: California Sweet Potato Hash with Feta and Eggs. Because it’s Sunday. And sweet potato is good at breakfast too.

Lunch: Choose your favourite / leftovers / eating out

Dinner: Quinoa Crusted Chicken Parmesan + vegetables to serve. Delicious way to serve chicken (you can use regular milk if lactose is no problem for you), and you can make use of any leftover vegetables and cheese.

Snack: 200g (7oz) plain Greek yoghurt + 1 small banana

    • Thank you for the information. I look forward to trying this diet because I have really gained a lot of weigot that I cannot loose.

  1. Thank you Joe for such a great 2 weeks meal plan !
This will definitely help many people to get their body back in shape, and the pics are so great that I am going to make mason jar salad just right now )

  2. Hi Joe,

Would you please be able to send me the 14 day diet. I have had an under active thyroid for 7 years now. I have put on loads of weight . I struggle to get if off even with excercise. I am always tired.

    • I feel the same way; no matter how much I exercise there is not a substantial difference in my weight, and I am also always tired.

      • Exercise is very beneficial for health, but when it comes to weight loss I dare say it only accounts for 10-20% of the results maximum.
Reducing total calories is the main thing to focus on, so looking into eating habits/lifestyle habits that can help you to do that consistently.
Then there is the nutrients to consider that impact the thyroid and subsequently your energy levels.
It is all a cycle really.

    • Hi Joe
Tried every diet possible… exercising regularly… can’t lose weight long term…. it takes me weeks to lose 2 kgs… can put it back within a weekend … Always feeling tired no energy…With having Underactive thyroid it’s impossible to lose weight… Please help me send me 14 day diet plan…

  3. Hi Joe, Can you please send me the 14day meal plan.
I have been struggling with an underactive thyroid for about 15yrs. Yoyo eating habits.
Tried nearly every diet under the sun. I would appreciate very much if you could send the 14day meal plan please.
    Kai

  4. hey joe …..pls help me …i am indian ……can you pls help me to make eating timetable for me according to indian diet…. i am hypoyroid and unable to loose weight ..pls help me ….

    • I am not that familiar with Indian diet, you should see an Indian dietitian, at least just one time to get a meal plan. Worthwhile investment 🙂

    • Cook at home, try to avoid fried foods. Avadado/ carrots/ cucumbers/ broccoli/ tomatoes/ oranges/ mosabis at any time when you are hungry. Have two to three glasses of freshly squeezed lemon juice with a touch of sea salt/ honey if you have, twice a day. Cheese and eggs if you eat them.

Stay away from ladoos, anything fried/ processed sugar. Go for dark chocolate. Keep some with you with walnuts, almonds (raw or baked), brazil nuts are hard to find in India. Pistachios (as in pista ice cream) are good too. Italian food is good, if freshly made. NO MAIDA STUFF AT ALL!!!

    • Any workout that you can comfortably do, and that you enjoy (preferably!).

Long walks or other activities that increase your heart rate slightly for 45-60 minutes.

Resistance exercises are great too, especially if mobility is a problem. You can do body weight exercises like squats or push ups, or you can use weights (dumbells).

Let me know if you need more suggestions

      • Hey Joe…
I have a weak lower back.havent exercised since my son was born (2 yr now).
So which exercises will be good as a new born n with hypothyroid condition hopefully I won’t drain out soon.
        Thanks in advance

        • Then your medication is probably too low in number. Have your TSH checked every six months. Up the amount if Doc says so. I did, and now the pnds are coming off.

Go high on selenium if you can find selenium based vitamins, go for it. And you need sufficient iodine (try dark leafy spinach and or tuna fish). Good luck. Salt is fine. Suger is the culprit. Natural fruit sugars are fine, but take it easy on the larger bananas.

Iodine based foods (salt, or sea salt), and take selenium supplemental tablets or walnuts. Good luck.

  5. I too would appreciate the two week meal plan.
I was diagnosed after having my daughter16
Years ago and have tried every diet I can think
Of!!! I just want to feel like myself again.

  6. Hi Joe,
Just confused with what I can and cant eat. Some sites are saying not allowed to eat sweet potato but there seems to be a few recipes with sweet potato in the plan?

      • Also I’ve read no spinach too? And I see that on the gluten free recipes, but I was wondering avoid coffee? I’ve seen that if you have hyperthyroidism that you shouldn’t drink coffee? Is this true?

  7. Hi Joe…love the info. Requested the shopping list and have not received the verification….can you please help. Really interested in getting started on the 14 day journey. I have to get back to me…this situation has controlled my life for two years and I was just diagnosed last week.

I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you
    Kim

      • Hi Joe,

I also would like the meal plan with shopping list. I need to loose over 88 pounds. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism back in 2010 and have gain all this weight since having my child. I use to weigh 120 lb and I got all the way to 220 lb. I have tried many diets and trainers, weight watchers, nutrisystem and so on (you get the point) and nothing have worked). Hopefully, with your plan it targets and sheds these unwanted pounds.

Also, in your meal plan, what can I substitute with all the seafood you have listed because I am allergic to seafood and shellfish. Thank you and I look forward to your response.

        • Hi Glenda, the meal plan is there with the shopping list for download, just hit the button. Let me know if it’s not working.
You can substitute any kind of protein source for the seafood whether its meat or legumes or nuts etc.

  8. I’m really looking forward to trying this. Just wondering.. Is there any alternative to the Quinoa? Could I sub with rice ? I have had terrible experiences with it in the past (Severe stomach pain, even after thorough washing). Thanks for any info!!

  9. Hi joe could you send me a diet that doesn’t include any fish/seafood or pork please, I’m allergic to these things.

    Thank you

  10. Please email me the 14 day diet. Really looking forward to trying this diet it looks very easy to do.

  11. Hi Joe ,
I was diagnosed with auto immune and hypothyroidism about 7 years ago and my weight has been a big problem. Can you send me the 14 day diet and the shopping list . Thank you

  12. Hi Joe,

I don’t cook anymore nor do I have any of the pots, pans, utensils to do so. I normally just eat a smoked turkey sandwich with swiss cheese and some chips. Or a bowl of canned soup or beans. I eat a lot of bread type carbs like crackers or flour tortillas because that is what makes me feel full. I do eat a lot of grapes (red and green) and cantaloupes, strawberries, and pears.

What can I eat that is pro-thyroid but doesn’t need to be cooked? I am a pull out of the fridge and eat it person and I will be for the foreseeable future. Just too exhausted to do much else. What can I just take out of a package and eat that is good for my thyroid? This may be an impossible question so thanks in advance for tackling it.

    Thanks, Jody

  13. Is there any way to get a compiled list of the recipes? Kinda like the shopping list but with the recipes? It would be easier to just be able to print them along with the shopping list. Having to go through each link is a pain, especially since you can’t just print the recipes without print tons of pages. Thanks in advance ?

  14. Hi Joe! could you please send this meal plan through email to me, as I also have an underactive thyroid. If you could give any other tips to help along the way to shed pounds I would love to hear what you have to say. I am finding the older I get the more pounds I gain and no matter how much I work out I can’t seem to lose the weight. Thank you for this wonderful meal plan, as I have been following it for 4 days now and love all the recipes. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

  15. Hi, I’ve just been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism following a recent blood test!!! I have been borderline for many years, but in the last 6 months my levels have gone from 6 to 20!!! I’m in a fortunate criteria that my weight isn’t a huge concern as I have a gastric band but saying that I have noticed a slight increase in my weight over the last few months!!! I’m looking for a diet that will assist my health and not fight against my thyroid!! Can your plan help me!!!!

  16. Hi good pm. Thank you very much for the helpful information. Could you please send yo me the 14 day meal diet plan plus the shopping list. Am very interested on following this plan highly appreciate ur response.

  18. Hi. I really need to get to Week 2 but the links seem broken. I just get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function pib_render_button() in /home/dietvsdi/public_html/wp-content/plugins/pinterest-pin-it-button-pro/class-pinterest-pin-it-button.php on line 143

    Please help!

  19. Is the 14 day meal Plan for Hypothyroid also appropriate for Insulin Resistance?

There are a lot of high sugar foods that I would normally steer well clear of.

I have tried a few of the recipes and notice my blood sugar is rising.

    Any recommendations?

  20. Wow, I am loving all the recipes . They are really delicious and going down a hit with the family too Being in catering myself I love to cook different meals and try new recipes yours are helping with my thyroid and managing my weight keep them coming . Thank you xx

  21. HI I am sick of being so ill with my thyroid. Its underachieve. I am going to try you meals because I don’t know what else to do. My only concern is I am a vegetarian and so can’t eat some of the meals. I note your comments about Soya. What can i put in my meals instead of chicken. Ive been a vegetarian for 33 years – I would rather not eat meat – but if I have to then I will. Can you send me the shopping list. Thank you so much

  22. I became hyprothyroid thru RAI and have gained wait whether I starved or ate. Send me your diet plan. and any tips. you may have

  23. Hello,

Right above your plan it saya 4 foods to never eat and one is banana’s. Your
first recipe is made with banana. Which is it to be or not to be. Also I would like to try your plan. Please email me. Thank You

    • We are also supposed to avoid kale and spinach, but the cheesy taco skillet has kale. It gets confusing when information contridicts, doesn’t it? :-/

  24. Is there anywhere I can see a day by day menu, so that I plan ( Monday (breakfast, lunch, snack ….)on a grid so that I can see easily what comes next! I sees to be what most people are requesting an easy reference grid
    Thanks
    I have the shopping list

  25. My thyroid level is 17 and they keep raising my meds.I’m at 275mg a day now will I be able to lose weight on a diet.I weight 289 and really want to loose.

    • Get your TSH checked by a top notch thyroid specialist- not a generic fly by night hospital. 17 is rough. Good luck, go high on veg type of proteins per diet, avoid too much carbs at night. Avacados and tuna fish are supposed to be good for you. I’d still avoid the cheese part because of cholestrol. Eggs are great to reduce weight with, but not too often. Cheers.

  26. Good Morning; I have had hypothyroidism for over 30 years and like most have struggled with my weight. I eat a healthy well balanced meal without the binging for many years but the weight just seems to slow creap up and up. I have tried low carb diets, salad diets, etc. I have tried many exercise programs but getting my heart rate to a caloric burning level is just about impossible. I would appreciate if you could send me the diet plan and to see if maybe this is what my body was asking for the whole time. Thank you.

  27. I was diagnosed with gall stones at age 23 (23 years ago), had my gall bladder removed, and many, many years later diagnosed with hypothyroidism.
I want to get myself healthy this year and have printed off a LOT of information about the two conditions. I am trying to get a diet that is suitable for both, so as not to aggravate one or the other.
At present I am going through both lots of printouts trying to cross off anything in both conditions manually by hi-lighting them.
Could I please have the recipes for the 14 day meal plan too??
Please have you got any ideas for me???

    Thanks heaps
    Michelle

    • Nits, legumes, particularly walnuts and raw cashew nuts. Avoid anything fried, greasy, and sugary: including too much sugar in your coffee/ tea. Sweet potatoes, gluten free atta (not the store brand atta), ragi, and quiona are all good. If you take eggs, go for boiled or omelette. Avoid too much carbs in the night- do a light salad, fruit is always good- oranges, apples, bananas (take it easy), mangoes in season, dark purple or black grapes. Good luck. I have the same condition. 62 year old lady living in Ooty. Walk, walk, do yoga, and other mild stretches through out the day. Don’t be sedentary.

  28. Hi, Im a 75 year lady , with thyroid trouble for near on 20 years , I would love to loss weight, its so hard, I’m still very active, but still the weight will not come off , I wonder if it ever will, fingers crossed, this time.

  29. With hypothyroidism we are supposed too avoid spinach and kale… but some of your recipes use them. #WhyIHaveTrustIssues

  30. Hi Joe
Can you please send me on the 14 day meal plan for underactive Thyroid. I was diagnosed 7 years ago and I am really struggling at the moment with my weight. I am exercising everyday and sometimes twice a day and I am trying to stick to a 1200 calorie intake and instead of losing weight I am putting it on. I am at my wits end so I would love to try your meal plan.

  31. I started the “14-day Meal Plan for Hypothyroidism and Weight Loss” on Monday 13th . . . I weighed myself on Sun and I was just over 115kg and weighed myself on Fri and was just over 111kg!!!! I am ecstatic!!! This is week 2 !!! My flatmate is also enjoying the food and losing weight too!!! I am sooo happy and REALLY ENJOYING the new foods and losing the weight finally after 5 children!!!

  32. I’m just curious how I’m to lose weight with the calorie count shown for the days here? I was under the impression that my calorie count should be much less per day (1200) than what the day’s total is that is shown here. Day #3, lunch and dinner is over 1500 calories-not including breakfast or snack. I’ve never followed a dies specifically for thyroid issues, maybe that’s my problem, but I was just wondering.
    Insight please….thank you

  33. Hello

First time on this, been on tablets for approx 2 years for underactive thyriod, always so tired even with tablets and my weight is up and down. Exercise a lot always on the go. Gonna do the 14 day diet. Anyone done this does it help.
    JD

  34. Thank you for the diet plan. I wonder if low-carb recipes are good choice for us (the low thyroid)? This question is because I would like to know what other recipes I can cook after the 14 days?.
I read that you suggest this kind of recipes for people that do not have problems with thyroid, but I would like to know if this is the idea for us too?
    Thank you in advance,
    Blanca

  35. Hi. I’m hypothyroid for the past 7 years currently also having a problem with high calcium levels. I loved the meal plans that you’ve compiled for weight loss but I’d like to know if there are any vegetarian options for the same diet as I’m a vegetarian, but do eat eggs. Thank you in advance.

  36. Hello ?
This information is so important for those suffering from hypothyroidism. I had the idea that some of the foods to avoid were Spinach, sweet potatoes and cheackpeas, but I see they are included in your 14 menu plan which I think is awesome because I love those so much. Was it wrong for me to exclude them from my diet? Any information would be appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Amina

  37. It is in reality a great and helpful piece of information.
I am glad that you just shared this helpful information with us.
Please keep us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.

  38. Hi, Joe
I was quite the athlete in my younger days, petite and muscular. But, because I was born with a hearing loss and suffered from emotional and verbal abuse I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and OCD symptoms. After my college tennis days were over I started to slowly gain weight. Soon after finding out I was pregnant with my Son I gained a lot of weight over those 8 months. A few years ago I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and now I have been diagnosed with Menopause and then ADHD- Inattentive Type. Not only do I feel sick and tired but I also feel like I’m going nuts! I’m running out of hope. Do you think you can help me lose weight? Otherwise, I’m thinking about having weight loss surgery.

  39. Please send me the shopping list and anything else you can that would be helpful …do you have a book that can be purchased ?? I’ve been hypo for 19 years now . Went from 125 lbs to 173…it has been a struggle for the past 19 years ….taking prescription meds all these years . Wpukd love to try this the correct way, I want my life back . Thank You !! SK

  40. Guys this diet is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. One of the most common mistakes when dealing with hypothyroidism and the correct diet to have is the consumption of green smoothies with certain raw vegetables such as cruciferous vegetables which are unfortunately the new craze now.
These vegetables destroy the thyroids; always cook them before consuming them.

Any respecting nutritionist would never recommend this to anyone especially individuals with thyroid issues.

    • Thank you for this enlightening article. The recipes look wonderful, delicious & simple! I see what I have been doing wrong – diet wise & finally have hope. I’ve never been this heavy… & diligently held a 1200 calorie diet- counting & weighing EVERYTHING I eat… and walk avidly/exercise every day for over a year, yet see no change in my weight, which is discouraging – especially after 7 months on the thyroid meds. I have always eaten raw veggies… but do see the comment above… regarding raw… Thankfully a little research says the goitrogens in these foods are inactivated by even just a light steaming… Easy enough! So there is no need to eliminate the valuable antioxidant and cancer- protective effects held in cruciferous vegetables. PLEASE send me the 14 day diet plan?! Thank you!

    • I am surprised how this person does not know anything about Indian food.. just shows she or he is not geniune.. as far as I am concerned Kale and spinace is not good for Hypothyroidism but this receipie has loads of it.

Any Nutrionist would be able to give receipeies devised for indians or for any culture!

  41. Please please can someone point me In the right direction I have underactive thyroid 100mcg daily basis my hair is falling out plus hormone replacement tablets as well as fibromyalgia I am at my witts end with trying to loose weight I feel like a fat monster ???

    • Hi

Even I am also facing the same problem go with homeotherpay treatment and take brownrice good for thyroid disorder and also Millets. Now my Tsh get normal. My symptoms getting resolving slowly.

  42. hi, I m on levothyroxine at the moment. I m trying to go on gluten free and soy free diet. I wanted to know if having a hot drink or cold drinks have any effect on thyroid?

  43. Wow. This looks like such a helpful plan. I have been doing a lot of reading and its seems like everyone is on the same page about what to eat. I am going to start this tomorrow! Any recommendations on a post-workout food/smoothie? I was just told I have Hypothyroidism this past May and I am currently on Thyroid medication. THX 🙂

    • Hi Justine, no specific recommendations but something high in protein would be ideal. If you’re set on a smoothie, try making it high protein by adding whey protein powder, or natural greek yoghurt.

  44. Hi, so excited i found you, found this diet plan! I suffer from auto immune problem resulting in huge inflammation in my joints as well as an under active thyroid which im determined to kick naturally. I am currently on eltroxin and steroids to help with the pain so wanna follow your diet to a) assist in losing some weight and b) fixing my thyroid! Can you by any chance email me your 14 day diet plan for ease of reference? Please let me know, thanks!

  45. Hi!. I just have a question. Im doing a keto diet since 3 weeks and i have change my calorie ibtake a lot.. everyone has a different amount to say. First it was 1409 then 1200 and now 1600.. im trting to lose weight but some said that if i lower my intake my body starts to save the fat and not burn it.. other says that toi much calories will also just restore more fat.. IF was also out because of my hypothyroidism.. so im lostm i havent lose weight.. i gain 2 kilos and dont know whay to do. I have been counting my macros. Im 165 cms tall, 75 kilos and aprox. 35% body fat. My macros r for the moment on 1600 calories, 133 grs fat, 80 grs protein and 20 grs carbs. Plsss i need clarity :(. Hat is true and what is wrong. Im lost.

    • Hi Mariela, the body does not go into “starvation mode” per se. A lower amount of calories will make your body more ‘thrifty’ in that it will notice that there are limited incoming nutrients, and try to downplay all other functions in the body where it might be able to conserve calories. This is called “adaptive thermogenesis” and it’s your body’s response to weight loss. Basically, it doesn’t want to lose weight because fat is beneficial in a primal context. I’d definitely say that 1200 calories is quite low and you’d find it difficult to stick to it long term enough to lose the weight.
Also, you should be eating more protein than 80 grams. For your height, try around 100-110g. You might find the diet much more satiating this way.
      Good luck with it.

  46. Hi,
Can I please have the 14 Day meal plan emailed to me, it did not come through and I have checked SPAM.
    Thank you kindly,

  47. When I originally commented I appear to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments
are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I recieve 4 emails with
the same comment. Is there a means you are able to remove me from that
    service? Thank you!

    • Hi Juveniste, at the bottom of the email there should be a link to unsubscribe. Sorry i don’t have control over that email, it’s a WordPress thing! Just unsubscribe 🙂

  48. The Tuna, Apple, and Celery on a Pita was a huge hit! My 13y.o. had a second sandwich. Very easy to make, 10 minutes or less. I wish I could post photos. Vert awesome meal!

  49. HI, I suffer from hypothyroidism and find that this meal plan is inaccurate at best and unsafe for those coming into their diagnosis. Greens consumed raw is unhealthy and create havoc on the thyroid gland and production. They should always be cooked and even when cooked consumed only in moderation. Pine nuts should not be consumed, and quinoa should just be consumed in moderation. I can not say that I don’t believe a nutritionist would not catch this because this is the internet and this is why it is imperative especially if one has a medical condition to do the research on that disease and always speak to a medical professional. I have tweeked many of the recipes becuase they are fun to do and tasty. Wherever there was spinach I used cucumbers and or celery. I took the pine nuts out entirely and substituted for pecans. For the pita, because it is wise to stay away from gluten when you suffer from thyroid disease, I used a gluten-free wraps or lettuce. Anywho, good recipes overall. And please always cross-reference things.
    Happy eating and healthy diets.
