BGL / BSL – Blood Glucose Level or Blood Sugar Level

BMI – Body Mass Index

BP – Blood Pressure

CC – Collagenous Colitis

CD – Celiac Disease

EOE – Eosinophilic Esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus)

FODMAPs – Fermentable, Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols

FOS/FOP – Full Of Poop (functional constipation)

GERD – Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disorder (aka reflux, heartburn)

GIT – Gastro-Intestinal Tract

HbA1C or A1c – Measure of blood glucose levels over 3 months

IBS – irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS-C = constipation type, IBS-D = diarrhoea type, IBS-U or M = undetermined/mixed type)

IBD – Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Kcal/cal – kilocalories or calories (same thing)

KJ – Kilojoules (metric measurement of calories used in Australia!)

LC – Lymphocytic Colitis

LPR – Laro-Pharyngeal Reflux (aka Silent Reflux)

MC – Microscopic Colitis

MMC – Migrating Motor Complex (of the small intestine)

PPI – Proton Pump Inhibitor (medication, e.g. omeprazole, pantoprazole)
