Hi Jenny, sounds like you're doing great. The way people react to high fiber diets does seem to vary. A high fiber diet is not the best for a lot of people especially after major surgery like that.

It is different for each person. Try very small meals such as rice and chicken, steamed veggies, steamed fruit, etc. Go slow and fill in with a supplement drink to boost nutrition. Good luck...it gets better with time.

Had gall bladder removed with open surgery in July 2017. He said afterwards that they stopped counting at 90 stones. I had severe problems that my other organs had stuck together so my operation turned out to be pretty major! Three weeks earlier I had 20 stones removed from my bile duct. I’m well in myself now except for severe muscle pain in my abdomen. The scar shows clearly that he cut through a muscle, but I’m leaving well alone.
I, strangely, have the opposite effect to high fibre diet with terrible bloating, pain and/or constipation or dyohreah. I can’t eat cheese which I love. I frequently need to open my bowels twice a day but if I go longer than two days I start feeling really poorly and off my food.
I’m assuming I’m making a slow steady recovery for a 68 year old slim woman? What’s your opinion? Thanks
