Diana, your story really struck me — 25 years of avoiding nuts, popcorn and berries because you were told to, only to learn the evidence never supported that advice. It echoes this article's point that doing everything you are told can still leave you stuck when the guidance itself is incomplete. For me the most hopeful line here was that the microbiome itself influences how flares unfold; it suggests there may be more avenues worth exploring with a good clinician than just another round of food restriction.

I got diverticulitis 25 years ago and never had a problem . I did avoid nuts, popcorn and berries .
This year since October 2025 I have had it very 3 months . Last 2 times just did soft diet then liquid diet for a few days in June. I was fine. Fever never got above 99. Here I am on holiday in Neverlands - made the unwise decision to have fried califlower for dinner.- got constipated gassy and then low grade .I have had this past year 2 MRIs confirming diverticulitis . Treated with 100 mg of Doxycyline - I understand to avoid antibiotics but I’ve had low grades and don’t want to end up in the hospital either - Please help me - I have tried low food maps and drinking a ton of water but none of this has helped -From Boston MA- Drs say “ IBS” . Had a colonoscopy 5 years ago - no Polypts
