I was diagnosed with Microscopic Lymphasitic Colitis last year! I ave had diarrhea since 2013, First it was steroids, then more. Steroids then Budesonide for 6 mts or more then Colestoid, on top of the Budesonide nothing works can’t hardly leave the house if I eat anything. Been checked for dairy but said count was so low it didn’t matter!
I’m 89 yrs old and been fighting this for nearly 20 yrs. Had hernia surgery way back, and Dr said he got to close to Vegas nerve and it would go away. Did for about 1 yr. And has not stopped again. I got Polymialgia from Covid shot and nearly died, kinda wish I had! Just more steroids that has really messed me up?.

I had collagenous colitis about 10 years ago, gradually resolved after many months on lowFODMAP diet and stopping antidepressant pills. Now, I seem to have a resurgence of c.colitis after having taken 2 weeks antibiotic for a gum procedure. I will go back on FODMAP, and am taking Saccharomyces Boulardi as well as other probiotic.
My question … for the specialists… is: Can i take the collagen powder supplement that i normally would take (extra protein for my bones, i have osteoporosis, age 82) while i am trying to heal the gut issue, or should I stop until but is healed.

I am taking it now. I’m on 3rd week. So far, so good. Must deal with some constipation with soluble fiber, psyllium or 2 kiwis daily help.
I am also working with a functional medicine nutritionist and hope food choices and good sleep, moderate exercise will work.
I have struggled for years with GI issues and have been gf and lactose free for 10 years. This is my 2nd serious issue with GI and finally had colonoscopy with biopsy.
Hopefully, all will go well when I complete the 60 days on budesonide ER.

I have just been diagnosed with collagen’s colitis after biopsy. I have been gf and lactose free for over 10 years. My symptoms have increased over the past several months and I’ve been prescribed budesonide for 8 weeks.
I am ambivalent about trying it, preferring to manage in a functional medicine style with diet and supplements.
Has anyone tried it for 8 weeks and then stopped? What is the relapse rate?
