I am taking it now. I’m on 3rd week. So far, so good. Must deal with some constipation with soluble fiber, psyllium or 2 kiwis daily help.
I am also working with a functional medicine nutritionist and hope food choices and good sleep, moderate exercise will work.
I have struggled for years with GI issues and have been gf and lactose free for 10 years. This is my 2nd serious issue with GI and finally had colonoscopy with biopsy.
Hopefully, all will go well when I complete the 60 days on budesonide ER.

I have just been diagnosed with collagen’s colitis after biopsy. I have been gf and lactose free for over 10 years. My symptoms have increased over the past several months and I’ve been prescribed budesonide for 8 weeks.
I am ambivalent about trying it, preferring to manage in a functional medicine style with diet and supplements.
Has anyone tried it for 8 weeks and then stopped? What is the relapse rate?

I got microscopic colitis after several years of over the counter meds like Prilosec and the a doctor prescribed a medication for heartburn. Too late I read microscopic colitis would cause the colitis. I was on steroids which helped but the doctor wanted me to stay on the steroids for many more months so I weaned myself off. My life for years depended on not eating much and no longer walking far because I got such severe diarrhea.
I have several other issues and I am 73. After more extensive reading I have been drinking a slice of fresh ginger in hot water 3 - 4 times a week and apple cider vinegar…….,a TBS. in water and then another glass of just water to wash down….i do this 3 to 4 times a week…..preferably before eating in the am. I also drink fresh lime juice 1 -2 TBS in water and wash down with more water for my kidney issue. I was reading this site and realized I have QUIT CONSTANTLY COUGHING UP BILE, MY GASTROINTESTINAL issues are almost totally gone an my poop is well formed and a better color without lots of undigested food like it has been for years. Mmmmmmmmm. I do also drink a 1/3 cup of wither a good quality keifer or kombucha at least every other day. I am sure my gut is still healing as I have had this condition for at least 12 years. Food and water is the answer not medication. Dr. Gundry TOTAL RESTORE ….I would take 2 - 3 tablets before we would go out to eat. It works great. I quit using it because of the cost. I read up on Budesonide….the doctor prescribed….WOW just going to create way way worse health issues. No thank you……most meds will ruin your liver, kidneys, heart…..NO THANK YOU.
