Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. And don't touch your eyes, nose, any mucous membranes before washing your hands with soap and water for the time it takes to sing 'Happy Birthday'. Most respiratory viruses are passed by touching something that has been sneezed on, coughed on or touched by someone with a cold without washing his/her hands. However, travelling in close quarters, e.g. airplane, with recirculated air is another matter!
